Matt Blackwood is an Australian writer, filmmaker and teacher who's been given, non-other than a City of Melbourne Laneway Commission to create MyStory. It's a free locative storytelling project where you experience short stories in the places they are set. We especially love the mobile app with narrated audio and text. Love this.

We are completely in love with Perth artist Alexandra Lekias. Her next exhibition at Sydney's Friends of Leon Gallery is set to be bigger than ever. With black and white illustrations, oozing with water colour, Alexandra explores her childhood and pop culture with super- style. See you there!

Yep, we know LoveBento-ites are all big kids at heart and so that explains why we're so obsessed with Makedo. This very hip Aussie company, make these neat little plastic connectors that allow you to turn whatever you have around the house or office into something very arty and extremely random. They're now shipping all over Australia - love.

There's nothing better than kicking back on Friday and having a good chuckle. That's why we love The Big HOO-HAA. It's an improvised comedy event that has two teams of funny people competing against each other for the audience's affection and laughter. It happens every Friday night at the Portland Hotel, and tickets are only $14. Love.

Everyone is chatting about this new cafe in Richmond called Friends of Mine. The cafe is a collaboration from a group of food-loving friends. They use "as much organic free range happy local produce" as possible. So grab a bite with your friends - it's perfect.

The Cold War Kids have released a really hot interactive video clip which is way more fun than watching a clip on the old tele. A great way to watch Friday arvo pass by - click and make the band members change colour. Love it.

We all know it's Spring Carnival time, and that hats and fascinators are race day outfit musts. But it's always hard to know where to find gorgeous accessories. That's why we love Lincraft's free hat and fascinator making workshops. You can drop in for a workshop and create your own personalised head piece for Cup Day. We'll see you there.

With a name like New York Tomato you might expect American style burgers and fries. But this little gem of a cafe is actually named after it's location on the corner of New Street and York Street, in Richmond. We love the variety of food available from their menu. They have everything from sandwiches to hot-pots, and they cater for different diets so there's something for everyone!

It's always interesting when people mix different elements in design, so naturally, when we saw that an artist had embroidered floral patterns onto solid silver jewelery, we were intrigued. Caro Bärtling says that her designs are made to rouse memories in us even when we see them for the first time. That's why we love her embroidered silver bangles.

If you take a stroll through North Melbourne you might be lucky enough to stumble across Arthur’s Circus. Step right up and into the door to discover the most amazing collection of vintage toys, handmade trinkets, collectables, bits and bobs, artwork, and almost anything else you can imagine. Arthur’s Circus is a treasure trove full of lovely, nostalgic things you can decorate and play with. The store is reopening next week after a winter break and definitely worth the wander.

Spring time usually means the beginning of Melbourne's festival season during which we can spend the warmer months of the year enjoying a multitude of art, fashion, food and music events. There are so many festivals, it's hard to keep track of them all. But the Melbourne Festival was one of Australia's first international arts festivals. From music, to performance, and visual art, the Melbourne Festival has ensured there are enough multi-arts events to keep you feeling the love during October.

In 1867, the corner store on Chetwynd and Queensberry streets in North Melbourne was where locals could buy their milk, bread and butter by the pound. Today you should visit Grigons and Orr for their delicious breakfast menu and old-style interior. We love their house berrie smoothie garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon, a strawberry, and a fresh basil leaf. Yum!

Love culture and film? You’re in luck, because the Hola Mexico Film Festival is happening in Melbourne from the 22-31 of October. Even better, the festival is celebrating its 5th anniversary, so there’s going to be a fiesta. Get along to ACMI during October and say hola to Mexico!

We love visiting the Milk Market on Sundays. A bustling indoor market at 1000 pound Bend, it’s somewhere you can visit in any weather - which is important for Melbournites. The Milk Market is filled with creative and quirky art, fashion, home wares, and yummy food. You can browse the produce on display, or just relax and watch the bands.

We’ve found a restaurant that hits our taste buds as well as our hearts. It’s called Scarf, and it's a food training program for marginalised youth. Head to Mama Ganoush for some tasty treats - for $35 you’ll get a two-course meal, a fine dining experience, and warm fuzzies for your support. Love it.

We love Able and Game. They’re an independent stationery label that creates hilariously sentimental greeting cards. We first became aware of Able and Game when we received a postcard with “I don’t have a lazy eye, I was trying to wink at you” on the front. And they print the cards themselves, which means there are always fresh designs on the way.
